Biography
Unfamiliar Things is a Los Angeles based band fronted by prolific music producer Matt Levy. At the age of 16, Matt left high school to lend his musical expertise to the biggest television shows in America (The Voice, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and more.) Since then, Levy has had a hand in acts such as Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Miguel, Chris Stapleton, Allen Stone, James Bay, Fleetwood Mac, and more. During his tenure producing music for television shows, Matt has kept his love for indie music alive. In 2020, he began producing his own music, partnering with LA’s most celebrated local musicians as well as his brother David Levy to join in on the music making journey. In 2022, the band released Alternate Worlds, an acoustic single featuring Matt’s signature stacked vocals. They then began production on their debut album and after 4 sessions in Robby Krieger's studio, emerged with Unfamiliar Things. After a glass of celebratory whiskey, Matt re-entered the studio to create a follow-up EP of outtakes titled A Stream Through the Valley, quickly followed by Supershot, a single intended to tease the upcoming sophomore album of the same name (slated for a 2024 release.) With Unfamiliar Things' creative take on traditional production practices, It’s safe to say that you can expect an eclectic mix of styles and an "unfamiliar" vocal sound.
