Have you had your fill of reading bios full of breathless prose that sound as though they were written by the Artist’s Mom? Me too. So, I’ll briefly speak for myself. I grew up listening to my older brother’s pre-Beatles record collection during what Martin Mull calls “The Great Folk Music Scare of the Sixties.” I started playing guitar at age ten (55 years ago) and I’ve recorded a dozen solo albums since 1979. At first with record labels, now it’s DIY self-releases from a one-man operation. (Almost everything is on Spotify.) While decidedly not rich or famous, still I’ve been so fortunate to be able to do the one thing I wanted to do my whole life. How good is that! The songs I write are the underpinning of everything. From 1977 onward, I’ve been as faithful a Christian as I can, so of course that thread runs through many of my songs. And yet I’m not really a religious salesman kind of guy and I write about lots of things. If “Acoustic Singer-Songwriter” is on your genre radar, then maybe you’ll like something here. What a listener brings to my songs is what makes my life in music so gratifying. The opportunity to be part of anyone’s soundtrack is an honor. There’s lots competing for your attention these days, so if you spend even just a song’s-worth of time with me, it’s a good day at the office!
