Biography
CMD/CTRL is what CMD/CTRL does: We are not here to belong to a genre or adapt ourselves to any rules we just do what we instinctively feel like we want to do. Formed after a chance meeting at a party in Brighton, they take the “role the dice” approach and unapologetically make music with no boundaries that is bass driven whilst on a twisted distorted highway. Founding member Matt Rose first signed to Ninja Tune back in 2014 with the band The Qemists and co wrote their sophomore album Spirit In The System. He then joined tech metallers Monuments and co wrote their debut album Gnosis as well as contributing towards their second album with the singles I The Creator & "Atlas". In 2015 Matt started collaborating with Dirtyphonics for their Write Your Future EP which was released on Steve Aioki’s Dimmak label, which then led to a collaboration with Bass Music heavyweight Excision for the single "Again & Again" featured on the Excision Shambhala Mix 2015. Soon after forming in 2018 CMD/CTRL signed to Ninja Tunes publishing arm "Just Isn’t Music" and started honing their sound! They released one EP and four singles 2022 has seen CMD/CTRL sign to Northwest Sound, a brand new label co run by award winning record execs Christian Tattersfield and Nick Raphael. Their brand new EP 'No Stress' which features vocals from up and coming artist Eliza Legzdina is set for release early 2023
