Biography
Growing up in Los Angeles, popstar Maya B was stuck between breaking the mold or being cemented into the cracks. “I want to marry chaos with sophistication. I want to marry ghetto with poise. I want to marry urban with elite. I want to constantly bring two conflicting ideas together. I want to marry ignorance with excellence.” From writing & producing Selenas from Oscar winning film Promising Young Woman to her ambitious new single BAD, Maya is set to announce herself as this generations pop icon. In her own world yet she’s quickly built a list of collaborators that include Pharrell, Manny Marroquin, Soulshock, Karlin, Malay Ho, Saint Jhn, Johan Lenox, Dave Siteck, Omeretta the great and more. After touring with Summer Walker & UK artist Mabel, she engages with her fans by sending out zines filled with her recent art pieces and hosting virtual paint and sips. “Even when I was young I knew that a limit is something you place on yourself. If you don’t set a limit then, limitations simply don't exist. Growing up people would always ask what I wanted to be, who I wanted to become. Other girls wanted to be veterinarians or i don't know- fairies. I was a stubborn one, could never give an answer. I kinda wanted to be everything, I knew I could be anything. I didnt wanna be limited to whatever my answer may be that day or week. I didn’t want to be boxed in. I still reside on the outskirts of that box. “
