Biography
Emma Lee Toyoda (they/them/theirs) is a queer trans non-binary sunflower, grown on stolen Duwamish land (aka Seattle, WA). ELT makes empathetic sadpunk tunes for you to wipe your tears with, and nod your head to. Toyoda released their debut album Sewn Me Anew on Make Fart Records in Dec. 2016, which was featured on KEXP’s Top 90.3 Albums of 2017, The Stranger’s Top 10 Local Albums of 2017, and City Arts Magazine’s Album of the Month Jan. 2017. Emma’s followup EP, I Hear U & I'm Here 4 U, was co-released on ENBY PARTY (a non-binary centered record label + music and arts festival co-created by Toyoda) / Youth Riot Records in Nov. 2018. In May 2019, ELT released and toured their next EP, I Don't Wanna Play Ur Show (ENBY PARTY). Shortly after, Toyoda was featured in NPR’s “Beyond Grunge: 15 Artists Redefining Seattle Music” as well as A.V. Club’s “From Loud to Loudest: The A.V. Club’s Favorite Queer Rock of 2019” ELT is currently working on a visual album to accompany their recently finished sophomore LP, recorded in Vancouver BC with Nick Short of Dumb, featuring Canadian cuties from Cave Girl, Nice Apple, Pudding, and many more.
