Biography
The Perics is a brit pop band from Liverpool formed in 2020 by Matt Warren and Gee Nelson from Animal Revolt. They met each other on Instagram discussing music about Eels, an artists they're both fan of. Their first song was Do You Really Care? featuring Gwen James. After that they collaborated with international indie artists from around the world such as Reckless Velvet (Australia), Time To Act (Belgium), Brent Newbold (USA), Chenél No.1 (South Africa) and Roderiko Pop (Argentina). In 2022 they released their first album Troubadours of Lackland. It's a reference to the English king John, because he inherited no lands. Although The Perics are based in Liverpool, they also have no homeland, because Matt and Gee don't live in the same country. The name of The Perics comes from a book, but the word doesn't exist. It means 'lower class' as both Matt and Gee have working class backgrounds. Matt Warren started his music career in the 90's with Smackwater Jack. After that he became a singer songwriter making songs on his own. His inspiration is Fountains Of Wayne, Weezer, Counting Crows and Jellyfish. He released his first solo album Because We All Want To Escape in 2020, followed by Waited a Little Too Long in 2023. Gee Nelson started his first band in the late 90's. After playing in several rock bands, he started his own project in 2020 as Animal Revolt. His inspiration is Nirvana, Green Day, The Offspring and Eels. Currently they are working on their second album.
