Biography
JSPH is a progressive R&B artist that's coining the term "Modern Nostalgia." His soul-filled music with a modern edge has been featured on: Netflix series On My Block, KCRW, BBC Radio1, Pharrell's OTHERtone playlist and Queen Sugar on the Oprah Winfrey Network. As an independent artist he’s hit nearly 5 million streams on Spotify and his tracks have been co-signed by: Newsweek, Jason Kramer, NPR Music, Live Nation, Karen Civil & more. NPR Music compared JSPH to, "D'Angelo, Frank Ocean and James Blake, with an accessibility that [they] think will make him a hit with both critics and casual listeners." - 10 Songs Public Radio Can't Stop Playing A law school graduate turned singer-songwriter, JSPH’s passion for music-making and the career-tracking norm he was pushed into were constantly at odds, leading him to pursue a degree in an area he was not entirely sold on. When Pharrell picked up his first single, “Breathe” and featured it on a Beats1 playlist it only confirmed his talent as a musician and propelled him to continue making rhythm-soaked tracks. In fact, his song “ComeMyWay” was featured on the Netflix drama series, On My Block, which Newsweek described as the ‘best of the year’ in 2018. Since, then he’s independently amassed millions of streams on Spotify and Apple Music. And most recently, his music was featured on OWN’s Queen Sugar.
