Biography
Oranžās Brīvdienas (OB or Orange Holidays) - a Latvian Balagan Punk Orchestra - mixing ska, reggae, metal and rock with elements of folk music in a cocktail full of positive energy. The band was formed by singer/songwriter Speiss (Ints Kergalvis) on March 2000 in his hometown Kuldiga, Latvia together with a group of friends and local musicians. Throughout the years, the lineup and music style of the band has changed, but for the past ten years the band members have remained the same: Speiss – acoustic guitar, lead vocal, music and lyrics Raitis – bass Chakste – rhythm guitar, mandolin Kalja – trombone Max – trombone Ricis – saxophone Brunis – trumpet Maris – drums The band has performed in almost all music clubs and festivals in Latvia, has also toured several times through Europe with shows in Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Czech Republic, has participated in bigger festivals like “Positivus”, “Laba Daba”, “Burning Summer” and in lots of smaller ones, as well are not shy to play at small clubs. - On spring 2011, OB digitally released their first full album “Everybadi Tancevak” of best songs recorded until 2011. - Under “Naba Music / Melo Records”, OB released two albums - “Spīd” on spring of 2012 and “Tilti” on May 2015. Both “Spīd” and “Tilti” were nominated for the “Best Alternative or Indie music album of the year” at the “Golden Microphone” award of the Latvian music industry.
