Biography
Peter Fessler (1959) is an expressive singer and guitarist par excellence. The son of Canadian-German parents is probably the only jazz musician who had a pop hit in the eighties with "New York, Rio, Tokyo". His virtuoso instrumental language "Fesperanto" is inimitable, almost hypnotic and has become his musical credo. In 2014 he was awarded the Echo/Jazz in the category "Best National Singer" for his album "Quality Time". The "figurehead for jazz singing in Germany". Peter Fessler has released more than a dozen albums. In addition, he has had great concert successes, sometimes in duets, sometimes as a support act, with world stars such as: Al Jarreau, Toots Thielemans, Randy Crawford, George Benson, Shirley Bassey, Gilbert Bécaud, Bobby McFerrin, Take 6, Roberto Menescal, Till Brönner, Don Grusin and Randy Brecker. In 1986, Fessler, whose voice spans four octaves, began studying singing at the Jazz Seminar of the Musikhochschule in Cologne and from 1983 to 1987 became a singer with Trio Rio, a Latin jazz band that became famous for its 1986 hit "New York-Rio-Tokyo".
