Biography
Jacob Walter, known professionally as Trippy Ja, is an American record producer and sound engineer. His first major album, The Come Up, was released in March 2019 and accumulated over 5 million streams worldwide. His second studio album, 2020, featuring hit singles “Down with It" and “Giving Up,” released in June 2020, catching the attention of Sony and FrtyFve. Picking up traction across the west coast, Trippy grabbed the attention of Lil Yachty's brother Jban$2Turnt. Soon the two artists released the hit single “Gang,” accumulating over 2 million streams on Soundcloud. In March 2019, Trippy released his first album, The Come Up. After the album hit a million streams on Spotify, he came in contact with the YBN (Young Boss N*ggas) collective. Soon collaborating with YBN Nahmir, the project “Imma Ball (feat. Ybn)” released later that year. In May, Trippy announced his feature on Fetty Wap’s Mixtape with the single “Banker Be My Witness”. Following the mixtape, Trippy Ja released the smash single “Listen to Me” with platinum artists 24hrs and Futuristic. The song charted #39 on iTunes in its first week and dominated top positions on YouTube’s trending charts in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany. The single stands in history as the 39th most sold R&B song on iTunes in the third week of May 2022. Trippy’s main influencers are artists such as Lil Skies, CashMoneyAp, Metro Boomin, YBN Nahmir, and alternative rock bands Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
