Biography
NATHAN HAINES IS A SAXOPHONIST, PRODUCER COMPOSER AND BAND LEADER WHO'S BEEN MAKING ALBUMS FOR OVER 25 YEARS. From 100-piece orchestral albums to analog straight to tape quartet jazz to electronic dance music based projects, Nathan's musical life has been defined by his many collaborations. 2019 sees Nathan celebrate 25 years since the release of his seminal album “Shift Left” recorded when he was only 22 yeas old. This critically acclaimed work was his first Platinum selling album in NZ and was subsequently released in the UK on Verve Records in 1995. His albums "Squire For Hire" and "Sound Travels" both produced in London with DJ/producer Phil Asher in the early 2000's featured a vast array of collaborators and musicians including Damon Albarn, Marlena Shaw, Vanessa Freeman, Kaidi Tatham and Rich Medina with remixes by Kenny Dope (Masters at Work), Bugz in the Attic, 4Hero and many more. Nathan has recently delved into the world of all analog acoustic production with his "The Poet's Embrace" and follow-up "Vermillion Skies" albums released in his native New Zealand, the UK and Germany on the Warner Classics and Jazz label. Nathan is a musician who blends his love of jazz harmony and melody with modern production styles and a dancefloor sensibility, and he’s also known as a musician who embraces the art of improvisation with an individual and at once recognisable sound and style.
