Biography
Sifoor, whose real name is Essombe Lionel, is an Afro rapper from Douala, Cameroon. His music is the result of a cultural blend between Cameroon, Kenya, and France. He draws inspiration from major genres such as Makossa, Afrobeats, and Rap, which he regularly incorporates into his music to create a unique sound. In 2017, Sifoor reached a significant milestone by establishing the label O'Bosso Sounds & Co, thus introducing himself to the public. However, it was with the release of his project "O'Bosso Vol 2" in 2021 that he truly solidified his artistic identity. This album has garnered considerable acclaim, accumulating over 6.5 million streams. His emblematic tracks such as "Bogota," "20 Minutes," "Mélodie," and "An Nou Alé" featuring Matt Houston have become essential pieces in his catalog, loved by both his fans and urban music enthusiasts. On June 9th, Sifoor is preparing to release his upcoming project titled "AmaMakossa." It is worth noting that he is the pioneer in France to introduce Amapiano, a music style originating from South Africa, and has merged it with Makossa, giving birth to his own style which he refers to as "AmaMakossa." Recently, Sifoor unveiled the single "Geo Masso," providing a glimpse into his forthcoming project. Furthermore, his collaboration with Goya Menor, which will be part of his new project, has already surpassed 600,000 streams.
