Biography
As a Detroit native, Lauren Flax was immersed in the freedom and sonic tapestry of the 90s Midwest rave era. She relocated to Brooklyn years ago, but still brings that Midwest energy and diversity to her DJ and live sets, fusing cutting acid lines with the bounce of Chicago jack and Detroit grooves. An in-demand DJ and producer, Lauren’s extensive and unique discography includes remixes and collaborations with a long list of world-class talent like Grammy-nominated artist Sia, Little Boots and Tricky, and a worldwide tour as a member of the successful trip-hop project CREEP. Her releases on The Bunker NY, Truncate’s WRKTRX, a split EP with Posthuman, and 2022 The Sweat EP on Super Rhythm Trax showcase her prowess with techno, house, acid, and electro, while her Out of Reality EP on 2MR dives into more melodic, emotive explorations. 2022 has been a stellar year for Lauren so far. Voted DJ Mag’s Underground Hero for her storied 20+ year career and her active grassroots participation within her community through LastNightadeejaySavedMyLife.org, she was also chosen as DJ Mag’s Cover Star for August in North America. The article closely chronicled her Detroit beginnings in 1995 while weaving through decades of growth in both her music and personal life. Currently, she can be found giving life to hedonistic dance floors around the world, including regularly playing at House of Yes and The Good Room in Brooklyn with upcoming tours in Europe, the UK and South America.
