Biography
wantaways is a solo project by Melbourne musician Ken Seto. It embodies many genres, however at it's core it is laid back, alternative pop with jamming vibes and melodic hooks. A Chinese-born Australian growing up in regional Victoria, Seto's first influences were tape cassettes of Sir Elton John and Paul McCartney that his father played on road trips to and from the big city. Later he was influenced by Synth-Pop such as New Order and Depeche Mode, and stadium piano-pop virtuoso Ben Folds. After high-school, Seto worked with studio producer Brendan Marolla to produce keyboard driven indie-pop, and his first independent EP release, 'Further Closer' debuted in 2012, featuring the single 'Repeat'. In 2016, he teamed up with popular Youtuber Sam Green to release his next single 'Backs Are Breaking', which to this day has garnered 25 Million views on Youtube. In 2014, he was night-flying back home from South Korea where he kept hearing a loose object rhythmically knocking around in an overhead compartment, and there was born the first eight beats of the song 'Relove Relax', which has now surpassed 1 Million Spotify streams. In 2020, Seto collaborated with acclaimed animator Steve Cutts to produce 'The Turning Point', a provocative short film about animal cruelty and the perils of impending climate change that was shortlisted in several international film festivals. His next single release is due in November 2021, ahead of another EP due next year.
