Biography
Having been called “an absolute star,” by GMB and “An incredible talent whose voice needs to be heard,” by BBC introducing, Luke Burr is without a doubt one of the UK’s next great exports. Born in Essex, England, Luke found his love of music through listening to his father’s old soul records. Inspired by the likes of Stevie Wonder & Donny Hathaway, he then became obsessed with watching live performances of artists like Coldplay, James Morrison, & Justin Timberlake. His childhood idols left their mark in the form of what you hear today, “they define my sound,” says Burr. In 2019, Luke’s version of Bobby Caldwell’s, 'What You Won’t Do For Love' was used in 'Love Island', earning him over 40k Shazams overnight. The following morning, the song shot straight to #1 on the UK Shazam charts and within days, the song climbed the UK iTunes Charts where it remained in the top 20 for over 6 weeks. Prior to the pandemic, Luke had toured with one of the UK’s biggest acts, Rudimental, acting as their frontman on their sold-out tour of both Europe and Australia. Though his first headlining tour had been cancelled due to the pandemic, Luke kept his sold-out date at London’s OMEARA (350 cap) in the hope it could be rescheduled. Extremely high demand meant upgrading the venue size (twice) to a now sold-out show at London’s Scala (800 cap) on Nov 30. Luke has been actively writing during the lockdown, “These new songs make me feel like I’ve finally found who I am,” says Burr.
