Forming like a Hip-Hop Voltron, Smashproof comprises Deach, TY & Sid Diamond. They first catapulted to fame in 2009 when their debut single, ‘Brother’ (featuring Gin Wigmore) reached #1 on the Top 40 Singles Chart in New Zealand. It went on to hold the position for a staggering 11 weeks - a streak that is yet to be broken - receiving triple platinum certification. Getting together over numerous sessions during the year as part of their 10 year celebrations, Smashproof wrote and recorded a range of songs together and have decided to release them. ‘It was great to get back in the studio and write together’ says group member Deach. ‘We have grown up, and moved on down different life paths, but we still have the chemistry to write awesome songs together as a group’. The trio are South Aucklanders of Maori/Cook Island Maori, Niuean, and Samoan heritage. Since 2009, All three group members have successfully forged their own solo careers, and continue to perform across New Zealand and Australia on a regular basis.
