Biography

The Imagination Movers story is the ultimate example of the power of imagination. In 2003, four New Orleans friends – Rich Collins, Scott Durbin, Dave Poche, & Scott “Smitty” Smith – had an idea. They thought kids wanted and deserved music that spoke to them, not down to them. So, they started writing songs & brainstorming ideas about a children’s TV show. When the levees broke after Hurricane Katrina, the far-reaching disaster turned the Movers’ world upside down, but it didn’t end their dream. 3 members lost everything, and Smith reported to his day job as a firefighter & first responder – they never stopped living according to the Movers’ motto: “Reach high, think big, work hard, have fun!” This motto has served the band well. The Movers partnered with Disney in 2007 & filmed 75 episodes of their Emmy Award-winning series over 3 seasons. The series can now be streamed on Disney +. The Movers are known as a high-energy, interactive live music act. Fans encounter flying toilet paper, vortex smoke rings, ginormous balloons, confetti, and music. Over the past few years, the Movers have rocked packed houses in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, & the UK and performed at festivals - like Austin City Limits Music Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, & Lollapalooza. 2023 finds them releasing a compilation album of 7 songs feat some of the Movers' favorite artists covering a classic Movers tune. The fall/winter will bring their 1st new music since 2021.
