Biography

The Super Soakers is a Dutch indie rock band that resembles more of a soccer team, with a lineup where everyone is as interchangeable as they are indispensable. Arising from a tight and long-standing friendship, they bring forth their own tradition of sharp and engaged lyrics over a tangle of staccato riffs. With the song as the foundation, the choruses are tackled with five microphones at the same time. In their recordings, the absurdity of existence is keenly broken down, only to be rebuilt again with the audience. Somewhere between Black Country, New Road, Parquet Courts, and Arcade Fire, they carve their own path. Their reunion year (2022) resulted in three EPs and victories at the Valkhof Festival; "Fresh dose of beatings makes Poort stage burst at its seams" (3voor12 Gelderland) and Vera in Groningen; "With their tremendous amount of energy, they set the entire basement bar on fire" (3voor12 Groningen), all resulting from an offensive strategy. The year was kicked off with a tightly sold-out show at Merleyn and they then scored a goal by being part of the Popronde selection. They are currently working on their debut album, while two singles are waiting on the reserve bench. With their heads held high and their shirts tucked in, they stand ready in a row to sing their own anthems with full enthusiasm.
