Biography

The/Das is a German electronic duo comprising of Fabian Fenk and Thomalla, with multiple releases on Life And Death, Sinnbus and Circus Company. Their live set has taken different forms over the years, sometimes including other musicians and instruments, but currently is a purely electronic set up which offers the pair endless possibilities to improvise and re-invent their material. Fenk co-created The/Das in 2012 following successful years of touring and releasing albums as part of the band Bodi Bill. Synth wizard Thomalla, meanwhile, was putting out music through respected underground platforms like Running Back and Permanent Vacation. They began to play together whilst The/Das was still a four-man band, gaining a loyal following through high-profile shows across Europe, Mexico, Russia and the USA, not to mention a Boiler Room appearance, mainstream radio play, EPs, remixes and an exceptional debut album Freezer (2014). 
Their emotionally rich, melodic compositions have since found a fitting home on Life And Death, whose sound is also somewhere between dark Pop and House, between the dancefloor and the living room. When their mesmerising, second album Exit Strategies came out in 2017, the ongoing evolution will be complete.
