There were no ties: "I have only this bag of belongings." (Pulling your cap down to cover your eyes.) "I'd planned on it." Planned on tonight. "These kids don't look right. If only we needed a story..." He shook my hand and went on for a while. Wait for it. Wait for it now-- In the evening the gates lock. The customer's leaving. In my childhood town there's nowhere to hide, so wake up and let me inside! Now you're all grown up, and we get on to talking. It's been too long, but you're happy you've got me. I slept on your couch, woke early and let myself out. "HEY!" I breath out in the cold and wait. I'm close to perfect now. We wait. We're waiting to go right now--or I am. (I could tell you something you wouldnt' believe: "I'll take you everywhere I go." I'll take you everywhere I go! "Pack your bags fast cos you're coming with me. I'll take you everywhere I go." I'll talk you everywhere I go...) "It's all fine that you think time will heal everything, cos it usually does." I go out, and they know I'm bent and broke and I'm tumbling down. I got dressed in my suit and my tie, but it's ruined--that's a lousy way to fall. "Take my breath! Take my soul! Come inside, or let's go!" We'll ride it down to San Francisco. "Not so fast, don't you leave! You're embarassing me!" I curled up in my seat to sleep.
