Biography
Born José Carlos Cano Fernández, talented singer/songwriter Carlos Cano became involved in popular music after composing his first song, called "La Miseria," in 1968. Seduced by poetry, he joined a group of writers known as Poesia 70 and participated in a tribute to Federico García Lorca in 1972. Cano made his first record, called A Duras Penas, in 1976. A La Luz De Los Cantares and Crónicas Granadinas followed in 1977 and 1978, respectively. Performing songs based on local social issues, Carlos Cano joined the list of the most prominent artists in the traditional music scene. In 2000, his album De Lo Perdido y Otras Coplas became his last effort to preserve the heritage of the Spanish folklore. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
