Biography
Island/Republic recording artist Billy Porter is a multi-faceted, Grammy-winning artist with an eclectic catalog of songs that span multiple genres – from Pop and Dance to R&B, Soul, and Singer Songwriter. Porter began his music career with the monster Pop ballad, “Love Is on the Way,” from his self-titled (aka Untitled) debut album. The album also spawned the sexy R&B jam "Show Me" and a sweet cover of Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed.” No stranger to the R&B and Dance Music charts, Porter has kept dancefloors bumping with a string of club burners: “I Want Love” with labelmate Jessie J, “Finally Ready” with The Shapeshifters/Defected, and a soaring rendition of Juliet Roberts' club classic, "Caught in The Middle," on 2021’s Red Hot + Free benefit album. Porter grabbed the #1 spot on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with his D. Smith-produced single "Love Yourself" in 2019. In 2021, he hit the Top 30 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart with his Island/Republic debut, the disco-infused empowerment anthem, "Children." Porter’s range and aesthetic insight allows him to make most any song his own, as evidenced by his 2020 take on the Buffalo Springfield classic, “For What It’s Worth," and his collab with Camila Cabello on "Shining Star." He most recently brought down the house during the 2022 Grammy-weekend MusiCares benefit concert honoring Joni Mitchell. There he earned two standing ovations for his rendition of Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.”
