Biography
"Mathew V is returning to his roots." … but Mathew’s triumphant return to the classics, follows an impressive footprint through many corners of modern music. After 10 years of operatic, jazz and and theatrical vocal training, Mathew V moved from Vancouver, Canada to London, England at the age of 17, where he found his signature yet classic vocal style. After returning home to Canada, Mathew penned a deal with 604 Records and his first albums “The Fifth” & “Two Faced” included top 40 radio hits, international charting success and critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Nylon & American Songwriter. In recent years, Mathew has become a sought after topliner in the dance world, with #1's in 34 countries landing cuts with Vigiland, Shaun Frank, Raaban and more. Cut to the present day, with a catalogue over 100 million streams, a Juno nomination and fresh off a standing ovation at Massey Hall, Mathew found himself empowered to make a bold return to the jazz music he was raised on. Leaning into his seasoned crooner style vocals, Mathew’s debut vocal jazz album “Anything Goes” went number 1 on Canadian jazz charts, as did the singles “The Man I Love” & “My Boy.” Mathew’s trailblazing queer perspective on the Great American Songbook received critical acclaim from GLAAD, NPR, Broadway World, JAZZIZ & more. This crooner has no plans on stopping anytime soon with exciting shows and bold new music around the corner.
