Biography

After almost ten years fronting the award-winning band Street Chant in her native New Zealand, Emily Edrosa took a chance on the Green Card lottery, won, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her solo career in 2016. Her uncompromising, polymathic approach to songwriting results in music that playfully dodges any single category, weaving together threads of garage rock, proto- and post-punk, and psychedelic pop to make something that’s entirely her own. 
 Following Emily’s 2014 self-titled and self-produced solo EP, Another Wave is Coming is the culmination of several years’ meticulous work on two halves of the globe. Mixed by legendary producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and finished by Emily in her home studio, the record is a portrait of life as a hyper-aware stranger in dreamlike, hostile, and magnetic territory. With deeply personal, relatable lyrics that jump from snarky to sincere and back across bright, commanding vocals and dynamic instrumentation, Another Wave is Coming is a whole universe packed down into a single album by Emily Edrosa’s hands.
