Biography

Eylül Deniz Karasu (Born July 29, 1996), known professionally as Hazel or Haze, is a Turkish rapper, singer, and songwriter born in Küçükçekmece, İstanbul, and raised in various cities such as Bursa and Ankara. She began to get into literature as a teenager, which led to an interest in writing and performing raps in English and Turkish. Later on, she started studying English language and literature at Hacettepe University. She is currently doing English teaching while performing as a professional voice actor. She recorded her first tracks, “Minority” and “First”, and her first EP: “Vicidway”, in 2018 with an iPhone 7, and released them on SoundCloud, which made her one of the earliest female rappers delivering her craft in English in Turkey. She first garnered attention when she released her hit songs: “1996” and “Dardayım”. “Dardayım”, “Dünya”, “and “Big Mami Locsta” became her first #1 tracks on Spotify Turkey’s Editorial Lists. “1996” and “Dardayım” also went viral on Spotify Turkey’s Viral 50 List. Her latest single, Big Mami Locsta, is the first triple lingo, solo female rap in Turkey, also, making her the first driller femcee in the country. Recently, Hazel has passed over 10,000,000 combined streams on all digital platforms. She is also a content creator on TikTok and Instagram, followed by more than 110,000 users.
