Boa stands as one of the most distinguished German songwriters - lyrics reflect "absurd dreams, love songs, double-meaning stories, at times deranged content, while always finding poetic beauty underlining everything he writes". "Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub are one the most prestigious German bands, also acknowledged by international critics" (ARD - the world's largest public broadcaster). They are the German band with the most "Album & Single of the week" credits in the British music press (8 x Single of the week and 5 x Album of the week in NME, Melody Maker etc.). In the survey "The most influential German musicians" they were in the Top 20. Boa‘s musical influences: Bowie, Brian Wilson, Lou Reed, Can.
