Biography

ZINNIA is the Toronto-based synthpop project of Rachael Cardiello. With layered synth and driving beats, ZINNIA brings an explosive range to Cardiello's writing, equal parts intimate and fierce. Making CBC's list of "Best Lyrics of 2019" and turning heads with their genre-crossing collaborations, ZINNIA is unflinching in its exploration of grief, mental illness, and joy with depth. Their debut album Sensations in Two Dot seeks to find compassion within moments of doubt. With the release of Sensations in late 2019, ZINNIA established itself as an innovative and confident voice in the arts - reaching beyond music to collaborate with dancers, visual artists and filmmakers. Their sold-out Toronto album release show Through the Prism of Dance featured nine choreographers and eleven dancers interpreting the album songs through dance.
