Biography

Annie Philippe's tangy voice and movie star physique made a glory in the second half of the 1960s. The songs “Baby Love” and “I have so much pain” made her known, but the tube “Ticket de quai” raised her to the pinnacle with more than a million records sold. Aged 17 y.o, she became a disc jockey at Twenty One, a nightclub near the Champs Elysées and was discovered by Paul Mauriat, the famous french conductor. In 1965, she recorded at Riviera (now own by the french label Anthology’s, an FGL PRODUCTIONS label), her first 45 rpm, “You can tell me”, also featuring a french version of Elvis Presley's “Love me Tender”. Despite the success of her songs, Annie Philippe began to be tired of this star life. After having made numerous tours, in particular with Claude François, she withdrew somewhat from her profession while continuing to lead an intense love life. She became model for various french magazine such as “LUI”, where she posed entirely naked for photo session by Raymond Depardon. In the spring of 1988, french actor Jean-Paul Belmondo called her to play in a movie by Claude Lelouch. In 2003, she returned to television, appearing in “La Chance aux Chansons” show by Pascal Sevran and for the last time on stage for a big french tour “Age Tendre” and sang every night in front of 5000 peoples for 25 last shows ! She also wrote a book “J’aurai pu être la Marquise des Anges” and became the muse of the Yéyé Gril movement all around the world ! www.anniephilippe.com
