Biography

The piano virtuoso from Finland releases a Christmas album entitled 'En finsk jul' (A Finnish Christmas). A moving and ethereal album that combines soft jazz reminiscent of Keith Jarrett and Shai Maestro, traditional Finnish Christmas songs, and newly written material with Viljanens renowned literary and melancholic lyrics (in Swedish). This is Viljanens fourth solo album, following the critically acclaimed 'Den lilla havsfrun' which was released in May. Iiris Viljanen is a pianist, singer and rapper from Finland, now living in Stockholm, Sweden. Her album 'Mercedes' (2016) was nominated to Dagens Nyheters Kulturpris and was the second best album of the year according to TT:s statistics of all Swedish reviews. It was also nominated for Musikförläggarnas pris for the best lyric writer of the year and Årets visalbum on Manifestgalan. Iiris was also nominated for "The best live artist of the year" on Manifestgalan and The Ostrobothnian of the year. She got the SKAP award for her lyric writing in 2017.
