Biography

After spending the last twelve months in the studio writing and recording new music, Emma Blackery is returning with Everybody Lies, the lead single from her upcoming sixth EP, which is to be released later in 2023. Accompanied by an infectious bass groove, driving dance-punk guitars and nostalgic ‘80s synth lines, Blackery touches on the topics of untrustworthy news sources, a human’s desire for gossip and personal fallouts, all tied together with one cutting line: everybody lies. “I keep myself to myself these days,” the song begins, with Emma singing with a sleazy, slow drawl, before bursting into a fast-paced, funk chorus: “Nowadays you don’t get to talk to me all the f*cking time.” Emma is no stranger to commanding the independent music scene. With two full-length albums and five EPs under her belt to date, she is returning in a big way with a self-produced, multi-genre EP to be released later in 2023. Her fanbase of 2.8M total listeners on Spotify alone have heard her unique twists on pop, rock, pop-punk, alternative and country to mention a few - and her upcoming EP continues her unique take on multi-genre releases, with tracks that Emma has described as her “most true-to-self” material to date. Available for download and streaming from July 28th, Everybody Lies is the first taste of Emma’s new direction, with more singles to be released before the EP is released later in 2023.
