Biography
The Plastic Cherries began as a home recording project between couple Shelby & Joseph Maddock, making songs on old tape machines inspired by glam, soft rock, shoegaze, Elliott Smith, and their dog. These homemade songs became their first album, “Sunshine”, now available on LP & cassette via Uphere! Records. Joined by Stephen Cox (bass), Wayne Burdick (drums), and Natalie Hamilton (keyboards), the Cherries can be found performing regularly in the Salt Lake area with periodic tours of the western U.S. “The Plastic Cherries are mesmerizing. From the washed out, delayed vocals to the crunchy guitar, these guys will strap you to a Flux Capacitor and take you to the ‘70s, back to the future, and to a time beyond – where rock has had a meaningful pop resurgence and everything feels new again.” - Provo Music Magazine Emerging from Salt Lake’s growing scene, they have shared festival stages with Pixies , The Strokes , Yeah Yeah Yeahs , and Blonde Redhead . A 2nd album, featuring collaborations with Denney Fuller (The Mellons , Fonteyn) & Chris Cohen (Weyes Blood , Deerhoof), is in the works—a sequel to Sunshine inspired by the band’s glittery live presence.
