Biography
Brett Bixby is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Long Beach, CA. City Lights is his debut solo album, produced by Chris Karn (writer/producer of the southern California band Deccatree). Inspired by the sounds of Nick Drake, Neil Young and Jose Gonzalez the acoustic guitar came to the forefront. The result is a record that lulls, breathes and emotes. Standout tracks @Fireside and @Memento have made their way onto numerous playlists alongside indie troubadours and melodic stalwarts like Damien Rice and David Gray. City Lights features Jesse Nason (Deccatree) and Stuart Richardson (Twelvehourmary) on keyboards and a number of guests including Steve Distanislau (David Gilmour), Chris Karn and Joel Owen (Pawnshop Kings). Bixby and Nason developed a friendship and Brett took over Jesse's touring keyboard duties with LA songwriter AM. This turned into number of years touring with both AM and AM & Shawn Lee. This experience rekindled Bixby's love affair with synths and in the wake he has re-emerged with two collaborative projects - the moody synth outfit Mono Sources (Bixby and Nason), and the quirky indie pop project Telecourse (Bixby and Mike Carillo formerly of the Long Beach trio Mention). Bixby is energized by these new projects and says he has current plans to record a follow-up to City Lights when the timing is right.
