Biography
Gathering influences from 80s new wave and post-punk, as well as surf rock, dream pop and reggae, Mundaka creates pop songs with atmospheric landscapes placed over a solid rhythmic section. After releasing a split with peruvian band Almirante Ackbar on 2014, Mundaka opened for Mac Demarco in Lima on 2015, gaining more atention among the peruvian public. Just 5 months after that concert, Mundaka released their debut album “Sonata Tropical del Artico”, on April 2016. The album was premiered by Noisey and was chosen by several media outlets and critics as one of the best peruvian indie albums of 2016. From then on, Mundaka has played at SXSW and many concerts in different parts of Lima and other cities in Peru. On 2018, Mundaka was invited to open for Radiohead, Junin and Flying Lotus at the National Stadium of Peru.
