“Northling are one of the most forward thinking and exciting bands in the region. The band’s expansive, cinematic sound showcases a diverse repertoire and songwriting ability within a cohesive, transportive, compelling listen.” Northling began as a collective in 2017 and quickly began to find their place in the arenas of nu-jazz and electronica when they won sponsorship from the Arts Council England in 2018. They spent the next year crafting a body of work using a deft combination of traditional instruments, effects and synthesisers. Their subsequent debut album ‘Ways of Seeing’ won Best Album and Groundbreaker awards in the North West Music Awards.
