Biography

Dan Costa is a jazz/ world music pianist, composer and producer. He released his first album Suite Três Rios in 2016, considered one of the best albums of the year by DownBeat. His second album Skyness was deemed "rare and luxurious" by All About Jazz, while Live in California was praised for "profound expression" by Jazziz Magazine. He has recorded two singles - Love Dance with Ivan Lins, one of its creators, and his own piece Iremia with Randy Brecker, as a message of peace. He has been featured by Rolling Stone Magazine, Sky and the BBC. 
 Costa has also collaborated with John Patitucci, Mike Stern, Hermeto Pascoal, Dave Liebman, Dave Douglas, Jaques Morelenbaum, Leila Pinheiro, Nelson Faria, Ricardo Silveira, Marcos Suzano, Roberto Menescal, Teco Cardoso, Romero Lubambo, Marcelo Martins, Jorge Helder, Vittor Santos, Augusto Mattoso, Marcio Bahia, Alberto Continentino, Paulinho Vicente, Seamus Blake and others. 
 Following classical and jazz music studies at the Académie de Musique Rainier III and popular music at Paul McCartney's LIPA, he graduated in jazz piano at ESMAE with a Rotary Club award for outstanding achievement. During his course, he won an Ibero-American grant and studied Brazilian music at UNICAMP in the state of São Paulo. He later pursued further studies at Berklee College of Music with a merit scholarship. He has done masterclasses at leading universities worldwide.
