Biography

Lobi is a 25-year-old Nigerian born songwriter and producer. His sound is characterized by a blend of R&B, Afrobeats and Soul. His silky, sinuous vocals explore familiar emotions as he meditates on the naked vulnerability of falling in love or lust while remaining reflective on his experience as a creative trying to make a statement. He credits PARTYNEXTDOOR, Ty Dolla $ign, Tay Iwar and Wande Coal as his early influences. When it comes to production, he admires the likes of Timbaland, Pharell Williams, Dr. Dre , Kanye West, and Sarz. He has been working on producing a lot of records for other artists but in late 2020 finally decided to work on music of his own. Early 2022, he would release his first ever single -"Roses". This song captures the overly familiar feeling of romance as emotions swing between infatuation and love. After years of ruminating on the viability of his sound in a Nigerian market, the multi-hyphenate who wrote and produced his debut EP, Freemotion, is now more than ever confident of what he brings to Nigeria’s ever-evolving soundscape. “I’ve been making music for a long time now, but this is a proper introduction to my sound,” he explains. “This EP is a key to help unlock new worlds and ideas.”
