Biography
Furry Loser is a rock-pop music project based in Nova Scotia and led by multi-instrumentalist/visual artist Ed St. Clair. Self-instructed in performing as a drummer, guitarist and accordionist, Ed started out his recording career in late 2016 when he produced a demo for a song later titled Meant, which would only be released until December, 2018 as part of the High School Suicide Pact EP — said release contains what may be his most popular track: Suicide Pact. Moving on from its older, lo-fi work, Furry Loser has released Music for Creatures in 2022, and Celebration at St. Matthew's Home in 2023. The former is a collection of classic, favourite Furry Loser tracks that have been re-recorded in studio quality, as well as polished in arrangement and spirit while still keeping Furry Loser's love for homemade recordings mostly intact. The latter is a whole new array of sounds the music project had not explored until said album's production; and while it jumps from Beach Boys-inspired surf rock to lush, pastoral pop, and goes as far as to end on a subtle, yet sweet instrumental-folk note, there is neither a second on this album that's wasted nor a detail that wasn't adorned by Ed's love for the music he's influenced by as well as his love for the world he puts out his own work into. Ed's work is also to be explored on his other music project Farm Rat Epitaph, where he takes a more low-key approach to storytelling through a mellow, folk sound. (pfp by CandyPawz on FA)
