Biography
Winner of the Ensemble category at the Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards 2015, the LCO has established itself as the UK’s most innovative contemporary ensemble – promoting the best new music and cross-arts collaborations to a global audience. Formed in 2008 by co-Artistic Directors Robert Ames and Hugh Brunt, the LCO has collaborated with a distinguished array of artists, including Steve Reich, Radiohead (‘A Moon Shaped Pool’), members of Arcade Fire, Boiler Room, Frank Ocean (‘Blonde’), Beck, NTS, Terry Riley and Foals. LCO has developed strong relationships with some of the most exciting musical voices in film, including Jonny Greenwood, Jed Kurzel and, for live performances, Mica Levi (‘Under the Skin’) and Nicholas Britell (‘Moonlight’). The orchestra’s soundtrack output features ‘The Master’, ‘Theeb’, ‘Macbeth’, ‘Alien: Covenant’, ‘Phantom Thread’ and ‘You Were Never Really Here’.
