Biography
The London based band came together when Nathan Hewitt (vox, guitar), originally from Morinville AB, Canada, and James Wignall (guitar, vox), originally from Leicester, UK met 7 years ago while both working in a pub in Camden, London and bonded over a shared love of Seinfeld and hardcore punk. Despite both friends playing in various bands over the next few years, it was only in 2010 that the two decided to finally make music together. After writing a handful of songs, they asked friends Marc Raue, originally from Dresden, Germany, and Dean Reid, from San Diego, USA to join them on drums and bass respectively. With their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album and incendiary live shows, Cheatahs proved themselves to be one of the most exciting leftfield guitar bands to come out of the UK in recent years. With their sophomore LP, the band demonstrates even further their devotion to experimentation, leaving behind the debut’s hazy, nostalgic world for Mythologies’ ambitious Technicolor universe, in which motorik rhythms, garage and ambient punk flow seamlessly into one another. In 2016 Cheatahs went on indefinite hiatus. Following that decision, Nathan Hewitt wrote and recorded a solo album entitled "Would You Be There For Me?" under the moniker Hypnotic Kingdom, which was released digitally Jan 12, 2018. The album was mixed by Dean Reid and featured Marc Raue on drums.
