Biography
Born in Montreal, Canada and raised in France and California, Wolf Mail’s journey started when his obsession and raw talent with the guitar saw him play his first ever gigs at the age of 14. Five years later he bought a one-way bus ticket from Montreal to L.A. Most of the money he had in his pocket went to acquire a 1963 Chevy station wagon, which became his home for the next few months. But it didn't take too long for the would be blues road warrior to gather musicians and tour the So. Cal circuit. Since then he has released 7 original albums, 2 DVDs (Oseana Auditorium/Johnny Winter) and Live Blues in red Square (Live in Moscow, Russia), has had 1 Top 10 Billboard hits, 3 awards nominations and has maintained an extensive touring schedule, particularly in Japan, Europe, Russia and Australia. He’s worked and has crossed path with artists such as Johnny Winter, Jimmy Vaughan, George Benson, Robben Ford and Jimmy Johnson Player Magazine Japan once selected Mail as its artist of the month among others like Robert Cray and Brian Setzer. In 2012, MusicOz Australia gave Wolf Mail its International Performer of the Year Award. But perhaps the most appropriate quote comes from Alligator records Bruce Iglauer who has spent half a century in the music business, and recorded the likes of Buddy Guy and Otis Rush. Bruce just said ”I'm really impressed with his playing, Wolf Mail really knows how to take his time which is not always true for blues rock guitar heroes”.
