Biography

Amberhill’s sound is a fusion of dreamy ambient soundscapes, lush post-rock breaks, and odd time rhythmic passages. The project was conceived in Singapore through a self- motivated challenge to write, record, and produce an EP (Songs From Summer) from scratch in 250 days. ‘Songs From Summer’ was released in June 2017 and received features on popular media outlets, sites, and radio stations. The band has played at multiple venues in Singapore, Japan and Australia. Highlights include Annexe Studio @ Esplanade - Singapore (2017) , Chop - Toyko (2018) & The Gasometer Hotel - Melbourne (2019) and opening for Sydney band Stand Atlantic in Wangaratta (2019) ‘Morning Filters In’ is the band’s first single from their debut up coming album ‘Motion & Bloom’ scheduled for release in late 2022. Written about the pains of moving, adjusting and adapting to a foreign land, the song marks a maturity in songwriter Joshua Lau’s lyrics and features the band’s new vocalist Natalie Karl. Sonically, the song teases the album’s new sonic palette, showcasing the band’s deeper level of experimentation and exploration with fusing sound design with more traditional indie song forms.
