Biography

The first release from Kyle Duke and The Brown Bag Boys since 2020's Cyst EP, Inbred follows the previous release’s path toward the heavier side of underground rock. Drenched in hazy neo-psychedelia reminiscent of the band’s debut Snack Time EP, the new single's slacker rock verse gives way to a sludgy, riffing chorus that matches the visceral apathy of its lyric. Duke first wrote much of Inbred crashing at home between tours with various New York bands in 2018 and 2019; after a run of shows he would stay inside his apartment for days feeling beat down by weeks of the DIY road grind. Ironically, KD would go on to finish writing and ultimately recording the single at Carriage House Studios in Stamford, CT during a forced 18-month hiatus from touring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing a much darker and more widely relatable context to the song’s themes of isolation and frustration.
Recently, KD has been on the road across the US playing guitar in BRKN LOVE, an alternative rock outfit fronted by Toronto songwriter Justin Benlolo.
KD has also co-produced, mixed, and occasionally mastered recent singles and EPs from Tummyache, SaintAhmad, Vanderwoolf, and Nepenthe.
