    Taking influence from classic Mediterranean and Eastern European disco records, Marxist Love Disco Ensemble fuse their core inspiration with elements of post-disco '80s pop and boogie music. The Italian group issued their eponymous debut in 2022. Offering little in the way of background, the band first appeared in early 2022 with "Brumaire," an elegantly detailed indie pop track peppered with horns, analog synths, and wistful vocals set to a warmly insistent disco groove. Additional singles appeared throughout the year along with a press release revealing influences that included Armenian pop icon Hamlet Minassian, Scottish indie pop darlings Orange Juice, and Ian Dury collaborator Chaz Jankel. Led by Bologna-based musician Paolo Volkov, Marxist Love Disco Ensemble released their self-titled debut that September on U.K. imprint Mr. Bongo. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
