Omar Afuni (pronounced Afyoonee) may be a Pop singer/songwriter, but his songs are infused with other genres such as Funk, Disco, R&B, and Rock. His album ‘Rush’ - which was one of the best-selling Pop albums on iTunes during the week of its release - is a perfect example of Omar’s unique ability to effortlessly tap into several genres and create an overarching cohesive musical theme under the banner of Pop music. Omar’s tendency to write eclectic, lyrically moving & melodically rich songs is a direct reflection of his musical influences. He often credits Elton John, Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, and Whitney Houston for shaping his artistry. His career as an independent artist spans over a decade. With 3 albums under his belt, he has performed alongside artists like the Backstreet Boys, Akon, Calvin Harris and Melanie C to name a few, and his music covers on YouTube caught the attention of celebrities like Stefano Gabbana and Linda Perry. In 2016, Omar became the frontman of Rock band Qattana which was founded by his friend and long-time collaborator Adel Al-Qattan. Their latest self-titled album Qattana was released on 26 May 2023. Omar’s debut album 'Resurrected' turned 10 in 2021, and to celebrate that, Omar released reworked versions of the songs 'Resurrect Me 2.0' and 'Blind 2.0'. Omar is now getting ready to release new music in 2023 after relocating to Toronto, Ontario in Canada.
