Biography
Taking influences from New Wave bands like Squeeze, modern synth-pop such as Bleachers, and the sensibilities of Modern Baseball, Bantams are a band formed in 2015 by 22 year-old songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Rathke in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Their first single, Honestly was released in August 2015 and was shortly followed by their debut EP Sincerely, the Bantams - EP which was produced by Pete Donnelly (The Figgs) in early 2016. The EP, which includes the song Mine, was featured on Spotify's Playlist Fresh Finds Rock. After months of teasing, The Bantams' debut album, Archbishop was released in August 2017. It was supported by the single "Hollis" which was praised as "really pretty" by Jason Lipshutz, Billboard's Executive Director, Music. In 2019, Bantams released their second album; an entirely self-produced indie rock album made throughout the first two years of college titled Gettysburg Sorority, drawing inspiration from 90s print advertising, Car Seat Headrest's bandcamp catalog, and America's Next Top Model (the greatest show of all time). They will release their third album in 2022 and it’ll be insane. And if you're here cause you beat me in Showdown....... congrats. Contact: bantamsband@gmail.com
