Biography

Emanating from south London's "Hilly Fields of Lewisham" Sarah Williams White is a singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & producer. A voice reminiscent of Peggy Lee, buttery harmony akin to Hiatus Kaiyote, Little Dragon -esque atypical pop sensibilities, and experimental production evocative of Kate Bush, Sarah's mishmash sound invites us into a world uniquely hers. After a string of self-released singles and live tours including UK support for Dan Le Sac vs Scroobious Pip, her debut album was released in November 2015 on local label First Word Records; written, produced & performed by Sarah in her home studio, with the addition of formidable breaks drummer engineer and husband Timmy Rickard. The mini album picked up praise from all corners with radio plays from Lauren Laverne, Jamie Cullum, John Kennedy, Tom Ravenscroft and NPR. Described by The Independent On Sunday as a ‘coolly confident debut’, the fantastical 'Of The New World' presented a uniquely intimate talent to the experimental soul underground, one with earthy spirit and one that is boldly herself. Succeeded by a number of songwriting collabs including brother producer Paul White (Danny Brown, Sudan Archives), Williams-White further demonstrates her instinct for an off-centre catchy hook. 2021 will see a return from the Londoner newly impassioned since becoming a mother, her forthcoming record promises to "offer up escapism from the mundane, enticing us to look outside of ourselves & into the unfathomable"
