Biography
Active since 1987, Big Red has crossed eras and fashions with the same ease as others cross the street. From his first steps on the mic with his hip-hop band Rapsonic, to the mythical dancehall band RAGGASONIC (first Dancehall band in France to obtain certification) and then with his adventure and solo experiments since 1998. Curious, hardworking and always one step ahead of his time; we find his flow fast style on the mic in sound systems from the very beginnings of the Jungle music in France, before his first hip-hop/dancehall solo albums, then in his Grime projects. A style whose hybrid roots between Caribbean culture and futuristic urban atmospheres fit perfectly with his musical career and his search for new experimental grounds. An artist on a mission, constantly looking ahead. In 2016 he reinvents himself again with his new project "Vapor". Big Red immerses himself in the sounds of the new hallucinated and dreamlike US Hip Hop which is just beginning to hatch. There he experimented with autotune and reconnected with more sung phrasings according to the productions of Biga Ranx. Will follow in 2020 the album "Smockaz" still in this melodic vibe. After this journey focused on the perpetual discovery of new futuristic sounds, it is now towards the roots of his school that Big Red chooses to go. He released a reggae roots project, surrounded by musicians. He is faithful to his Jamaican roots while eyeing England, the cradle of influences for Big Red.
