Biography
Cavern of Anti-Matter is the brainchild of Tim Gane of Stereolab (a band beloved by everyone from Pharrell Williams to Blur). Originally started as a one-off recording project after Tim was commissioned by artist Nicolas Moulin to come up with a double album of original material - Blood Drums was the result, the initial limited pressing of which sold out almost instantly and encouraged Tim to develop the musical ideas he had pursued on the record further. With the assistance of fellow Berlin musicians Joe Dilworth (who had previously played drums in an early incarnation of Stereolab) and synth wizard Holger Zapf, the expanded line-up recorded a series of one-off singles for Ghost Box, Deep Distance and Peripheral Conserve (the label run by film director Peter Strickland) and made the widely acclaimed second Cavern Of Anti-Matter album void beats/invocation trex (featuring guest appearances from Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 and Jan St. Werner of Mouse On Mars). The band has continued to be active, issuing the EPs void versions (reworks by Hieroglyphic Being and Karen Gwyer) and I’m The Unknown, and remixing other artists including Ride and Toy. They now present their third long-playing record, the immersive Hormone Lemonade, with their love of esoteric synth sounds and vintage drum machines more to the fore than ever before. <br>
