Biography
The striking foursome that are King Adora burst onto the music scene in 1998 when vocalist Matt Browne and guitarist Martyn Nelson came together in their hometown of Birmingham U.K. Bassist Robert Grimmitt promptly joined the group and drummer Dan Dabrowski was recruited in the time-honoured rock fashion, through a local advertisement. A string of live gigs helped spread the word about the band and King Adora quickly amassed a following amongst both the public and the industry with their sound, attitude, and look. A record deal with Superior Quality Records soon followed and their debut single "Bionic" was given a limited release in May 2000 and received a hugely positive response. Summer 2000 saw King Adora performing to a wider audience with appearances at various U.K. festivals where their blend of controversial lyrics, rock, and glamour proved a huge hit. This earned them a support slot touring with indie rock/pop favourites Mansun in October 2000. "Bionic," King Adora's original debut single was re-mixed and re-released in April 2001 and their debut album Vibrate You followed shortly after in May. ~ Linda Spencer
