Biography
Drill rapper AK epitomises the phrase “real rap, no cap” - at 19, the Brixton hill rapper is already making a big impact on the UK’s drill scene. Part of a new generation of rappers linked to drill group 67, AK only began making music in 2019. With his chilled, laid back flow, AK’s brought us tracks like ‘Yolo’ (2020) with Dopesmoke (over 970k views on Mixtape Madness), In Style (2019) with Splash, and has appeared alongside 67 members in ‘Now She Wanna Know’ (2020). He’s also featured on several mixtapes, freestyle sessions and collaborations. With features on major music platforms such as LinkUp TV, Pressplay, GRM Daily and Mixtape Madness (where he dropped a ‘Next Up?’ freestyle) it’s clear that people are taking notice. “AK is among the best new kids on the block” reads a recent Dazed Digital article and his most recent freestyle on SBTV’s Warm Up Session was met with major props - “this is a mad one… He's [AK’s] been dropping bangers and he goes in with some fresh bars for us!” AK has also turned his hand to directing recently, with direction credits on two of his own tracks: ‘Despicable Me’ (2021)’ and ‘No Reply’ (2020), which garnered 186k views on GRM Daily and over 516k views on Pressplay respectively. Creating music is one way for AK to show the world who he is, AK has much more to bring to the UK’s diverse soundscape.
